Today finally I heard about a study that finally explained what I am sure we all have known unconsciously for a while, a gentle touch from another human being helps us to feel better.

In fact as Professor James Coan  of the University of Virginia explained in the video above, they discovered that any hand holding -even from a total stranger- calmed regions of the brain responsible for preparing our body for vigorous action.

However, only touch from romantic partners, were capable of calming effect on brain regions responsible for the release of stress hormone into our bodies, hence helping us in controlling our worries and emotional responses.

Well, well, isn’t the conclusion simple enough? This is  just one more reason to hold hands with friends, and most of all your partner 🙂

On a more serious note, isn’t that nice to know that such a simple gesture can bring us so much more than the gesture itself …
